( Almost all of my friends in Destiny 2 are being shown as blocked following the most recent update. What gives? I can’t find anything out there about this besides one thread on the bungie forums with a handful of other people having the same problem. Can’t play with any of my friends on steam or playstation. In particular, every player is suddenly appearing as blocked on Xbox console. As per reports ( 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), players are complaining of broken cross-play on Xbox when playing Destiny 2.

However, it seems that this patch has become more of a hindrance for gamers rather than making enhancements to the game. As such, Destiny 2 players recently received a huge list of new features, improvements, and fixes with the 3.1.1 update.

Be sure to check back with us once crossplay in Destiny 2 is officially released for a thorough guide on how to set it all up. While the feature hasn’t been officially released yet, there is a beta version of crossplay for players to test out.
Now that this method no longer works, players will need to use the official crossplay testing methods provided by Bungie.ĭestiny 2’s crossplay functionality allows players on multiple platforms to play with one another.

This worked both ways, from console to PC and vice versa, as well as between the consoles. Players were able to join one another by starting Destiny 2 on one system, not selecting a character, and then loading it up on another platform and signing in. But, as stated, this method no longer works. During this time, Bungie’s Lead Community Manager Cozmo made a note of it on Twitter, stating, “We will be implementing a fix to remove public access later this week, but in the meantime feel free to partake.” Following this, a handy guide on Reddit popped up laying out how to play crossplay. Previously, players were able access crossplay via a workaround which is now patched. This will likely change in the future as Bungie continues to test and improve the feature. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to play with friends on other consoles, unless you manage to get matched into the same Strike.
There is a special Strike playlist for testing crossplay in Destiny 2. This system will matchmake you with other players on different platforms. Beside the main Vanguard Strike Playlist is a small icon labeled Vanguard Strikes Crossplay Beta. This is where you find the Strikes and Nightfalls. Previously, there was a beta version that was accessed via the Vanguard node. How to play Destiny 2 crossplay with friendsĬrossplay in Destiny 2 was active but now appears to be disabled. Previously, players were able to experience a crossplay beta with the Vanguard Strikes. Crossplay appears to have been disabled in Destiny 2. The current crossplay beta is fairly limited, but it's worth trying out. This period will allow players to test the system so Bungie can implement fixes and any necessary changes. Crossplay is coming to Destiny 2, but before it officially releases, it will go through a beta period.
